Here is some stuff from my last class at the Academy. The great Bill Maughan's directed study.

I live!

So I am alive and doing stuff. I have been working on some commissions but I cant post them just yet. So I wanted to throw up some other stuff for fun, sketchbook stuff and what have you. Just to make it look like I am doing something, haha.

A little Ahab portrait I really wanted to finish up and finally did. Basically another photoshop practice. A cover I am working on my for my friend Eric Johnson, just a value comp right now. And finally a fun sketch I liked.

Spring Show

We had the opening for the Academy of Art Spring Show 2009 last Thursday. It is located at 601 Brannon in San Fran. It will be open for a few more weeks so go check it out if you can. I received two awards for MFA Illustration. First place for MFA Traditional Illustration (Grendel's Death) and Best in Show for MFA Traditional Illustration (Ahab Hunting Moby Dick).

Portfolio Pages

I wanted to post my portfolio pages so people could see what the book looks like. I plan to put one together that is just paintings as well. This one has all the work in did for my thesis and a little more.

Ecroché

So here is my Ecroché from class. I estimate it took me about 80 hours. Really fun and huge learning experience. He is 32" tall. More sculpting will be in my future.

Business Card

Finally made them. Just got them in the mail today.  Dont actually have a site yet, but I have the domain so that is a start. Need to figure the rest out asap.

Painted up

Just painted up a character.  I am on the way to do a few more, but this is the first one.  Trying to Polish everything upfor my Portfolio.

Stuff

I have been messing around in photoshop cuz I dont use it that much and I want to get better.  So i put some new stuff together for my port including some concepts and ships and a crazy alien head.  None are related in any way really. Oh well.  Stuff it is.

Last Two

Here are the last two traditional paintings for my Thesis.  One is a portrait of Lestat and the other is a redux of a painting a did digitally a while back of Macbeth climbing up to the witches.

I recently had all my thesis paintings professionally photographed by an amazing guy.  So I have replaced all the crappy photos I took personally with the new ones.  Feel free to give all the paintings a second look because the new photos truely represent the paintings much better.  Thanks you.

Here is some new stuff.  I finally got this Ahab one done.  Need to work faster in the future.  And I also got the Grendal one finished.  Might need a little more work but we will see.  I need to move on.
